At PIEDAR, we have evolved a Human and Institutional Development (HID) approach that is demand-driven, gender-sensitive, community-led and inclusive. It has the following steps:
=> Identify intermediate organizations already working with the area;
=> Help them understand the situation and their own capacities with reference to needs;
=> Train the intermediate organizations in community mobilization skills;
=> Help them design appropriate interventions with their communities;
=> Monitor and backstop their projects;
=> Train the intermediate organizations as trainers;
=> Seek to establish a sustainable network of civil society in the area/sector;
=> Document the lessons for policy advocacy.
